day 1: sunny afternoon at doubtful sound
the adventure at doubtful sound began as we started our journey for the overnight cruise around the fiord. it felt amazing and refreshing being away from the big city and surrounded by the wilderness. we also didn't have any phone nor internet connection which i was anxious about at the beginning. but really, it was an awesome retreat from the outside world and being close to the nature.
oh hai dolphins! damn, i missed just a few milliseconds of snapping them jumping out of the water. dolphins swimming around us just a few minutes away from when we departed. or that's what i remember it felt like anyway. exciting!
hanging out outside at the deck. it was cold and windy, but how can you not stay outside when it was such a nice sunny day surrounded by mountains and the blue sky?
that's our ship fiordland navigator. everywhere we turn we saw mountains around us. green rainforest covering the mountains, they look rather blue from far.
kayaking in paradise.
closer look of the rainforest. look at the moss covering the trees. thick thick moss. amazing. i want to bring home and make a terrarium out of it. if only i could.
couldn't get enough of the magical view. turn around 360 degrees and you're surrounded by these. breath taking. too pretty.
more kayakers in late afternoon.
more moss and trees awesomeness.
golden hour as the sun was about to go to sleep, where all the mountains turned to bronze and golden, and the sky was about to turn orange.
seals! hundreds of them! it was already quite dark already at sun down, we were quite close to the sea and the waves were quite choppy when we got to see these guys. i had to wear my glasses, switch my camera brightness to the highest and zoomed in max to snap this picture. after the seals we sailed back to one of the quite arms to stay for the night. end of day 1.
ps happy mothers day for all of mothers in the world!
