march challenge wrap up

well well i know it's april already, but i just need to do one more wrap up post about march challenge: do something different everyday. most of the things that i've done were pretty simple and easy change, but i'm glad i did some stuff that i wouldn't have done if it wasn't for this project, for example the crazy future sound of yoga (which i'm planning to do again by the way hahaha).

i have also designed little goodies for you! download your "do something different everyday":
for desktop wallpaper here or for your iphone here (see the link on the image caption)

and here are a short QandAs with other bloggers participating in this challenge!

the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge was the challenge itself! The challenge of consistently changing up your daily routine and making different choices (especially the ones that usually would be quite simple to make).

greatest achievement?
I've found that this last month I have been way more creative. I decided to challenge myself and do more of my own personal designs and that was very rewarding! The biggest achievement was getting my portfolio up to scratch and print more tote designs, which I just need to photograph now, but all the work was done within this last month.

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
Loads! I love my routine, so there's quite a few things which I have tried this month which in the past probably would never have considered doing. That being having Yum Char for dinner, ordered a fish meal at a restaurant, actually got up earlier to do my hair and took a road to work which I would never have taken in the past! Some of them may seem like small changes, but for someone like me it was a great deal.

describe the projects in 3 words
Making Opportunities. Taking risks. Skies the limit (okay so not quite three words :p)

highlights of the challenge?
A big highlight for me was going out for dinner and having Yum Char! Since my idea of being treated for dinner would be more like a nice restaurant with a chicken meal, this was quite different for me! And Loved everything from the pork buns to the duck, to all the other treats I would have no idea how to pronounce! Such a neat experience that I would've never tried otherwise :)

the biggest challenge?
That the different things I did were meaningful without necessarily being too difficult to achieve. I didn't want the challenge to become onerous, because then I would have probably given up on it.

greatest achievement?
I really enjoyed the whole process, so for me the achievement was in being more mindful of all the moments in my day.

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
Probably so many - from trying new cafes, to starting my vege garden and eating different things ... I think the challenge gave me the little push I needed to try them all.

describe the projects in 3 words
Inspirational, thought-provoking, mindful

highlights of the challenge?
The challenge was really positive for me, and it's made me want to continue to focus on doing some different each and every day. It's made me appreciate the positive impact that making just a small change can have in my day.

the biggest challenge?
Keeping the distance, starting a project and completing it, stopping postponing.

greatest achievement?
I started customizing a sweater and by customizing I mean spending hours sewing. It's still a work in process, I'm halfway through but I do look forward to wearing it soon! (And of course, telling everyone I made it!)

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
I'm very impulsive and I rarely have regrets. March was all about doing things I hadn't done in a long time: wearing heels as soon as the snow had left the streets, eating ice-cream outside, wearing sunglasses, catching up with friends (stop saying someday but agree on a date). Getting rid of the winter lethargy.

describe the projects in 3 words
Better off offline.

highlights of the challenge?
Once you don't spend your evening online, you sleep much better at night.
Once you don't measure what you've accomplished by how many comments or likes it received, you will rediscover the simple pleasure of sharing.
Once you don't have an agenda for everything, you'll be much cooler.

the biggest challenge?
Coming up with new things every day and sticking to them! With shame I must admit that I didn't do a full 31 days :( (but I still did plenty and glad I did!)

greatest achievement?
not much of an achievement but I was pretty pleased about learning to ice skate for the first time!

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
I don't know if I'd never do the things I did, but this project helped push me do stuff I've always been meaning to do but had kept putting off. Most of the times it was simple things like taking a different route to/from work or trying a new cuisine. It's good to step outside of your comfort zone, even if it's just a baby step, no?

describe the projects in 3 words
I Love March ;)

highlights of the challenge?
My highlight would be my birthday dinner at the end of the month. I've always thought of having a birthday dinner with a big group of friends, which would be a change from my normal low-key celebrations. So this was one of the things this project nudged me to do. I made sure I planned it a couple of weeks ahead (in a restaurant that was also new to me this month!) and invited a bunch of my favourite people, and despite feeling nervous about it beforehand ("what if things go wrong??"), I ended up having one of the best birthday nights ever.

the biggest challenge?
I'm already they type of person to make myself do different things- the most difficult part was trying to do different, different things!

greatest achievement?
I would like to say the nude shoot but probably eating capsicum.

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
Walk up a different set of stairs (now I know not to ever again), let other people order, go to Rozelle and generally be less lazy.

describe the projects in 3 words
thoughtful, challenging, trying

the biggest challenge?
I get great comfort from having a routine, so being forced to break it every day was mildly traumatic. But like many mildly traumatic things, like getting up early, and eating wheat grass, I could tell it was good for me.

greatest achievement?
I actually seem to have permanently broken many of the more fruitless routines, and it feels great! It sounds ridiculous to say that forcing yourself to make the bed as soon as you wake up is empowering, but it is.

anything you've done for the projects that you wouldn't have done otherwise?
I finally got around to ticking off so many things I'd been "meaning to do" forever - like contribute to Sparkapolooza! But I didn't do anything too radical. Just living in Hanoi is radical enough.

describe the projects in 3 words
Get shit done.

highlights of the challenge?
I've never participated in any kind of group blog project like this before. I don't think it will be the last. Hooray #differentforever!

  3. Your blog is awesome! I saw the March challenge too late for March so have adopted it for April..it's such a great idea:)

I noticed that you bought up a question about Kony 2012 and asked if anyone had thoughts. I think the best thing is to educate yourself on the different sides of the issue (reading well thought out articles), and then it's easier to make an informed decision. Invisible Children have just released a follow up video which i haven't seen yet but I think it addresses a lot of the concerns and criticisms aimed at them.
