jamie beck

see: breath taking moving images by jamie beck, a photographer based in new york.
updated: jamie's photo blog is just full of insanely gorgeous fashion shots from various occasions. but there's more to that, the moving images she created together with her fiance kevin burg are just magical. the finest animated gifs i've ever seen in my life! *via my new blog discovery over and under*

on a side note, for those of you who are in australia, did you watch go back to where you came from at SBS? what do you think of it? refugees and asylum seekers are such a complex issue, it's heart breaking and upsetting yet there is no easy answers to this. if you haven't watched it, i recommend you to catch up online, it's such a big eye opener to the world.

  7. i've been meaning to watch the show online (i don't have a tv at the moment) after all the talk i've heard about it. it's definitely a complicated issue with no clear black and white answer. i'm very disappointed with the plans to send people back to malaysia though. i really don't think that's the answer.

  8. i watched it.
it was so frustrating to see certain people, even after all they'd experienced still didn't get it.
that one girl still had no emapthy dispite living with and bonding with a group of refugee children.

that one older guy still didn't understand why people would risk putting their families on boats despite seeing that the risk of staying behind is just as bad but at least if they make it to another country their lives would be vastly improved.

    *sigh*

  13. oh yes, I saw 'go back to where you cam from' and I thought it was one of the best things sbs has done in a long time. I find it incredibly bizarre the amount of panic and fear associated with asylum seekers. I don't really understand how anyone can be so cruel to people who are simply trying to escape horrible conditions. I suppose it's just ignorance. I think people also have to remember that Australia has a duty to accept asylum seekers, just like other western countries - in 1948 when European countries denied holocaust survivors and Jewish refugees access into their countries, the UN drafted laws to make sure people affected by war and hardship are not treated like this again in the future. That always puts things into perspective for me.

eh, ok, I've had my rant :) Jamie Beck's images are gorgeous - especially that adorable gif.
